Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") governs how you may use Supervision. It is part of our Terms of Service. Because Supervision is self hosted — you run it on your own hardware and control your own cameras and footage — you are accountable for how it is used. Using Supervision does not transfer any of that responsibility to us.

1. Use surveillance lawfully

You must operate your cameras and recordings in compliance with all laws that apply to you and to the people your cameras capture. Depending on where you are, these may include laws on:

• Video surveillance and CCTV, including where cameras may be placed and where they may not (for example, areas with a reasonable expectation of privacy such as restrooms, changing rooms, or private dwellings).
• Notice and signage requirements that inform people they are being recorded.
• Consent requirements before recording individuals.
• Audio recording and wiretapping laws, which are often stricter than video laws. Do not capture audio where doing so is unlawful.
• Data protection and privacy laws (such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA) governing how footage of identifiable people is collected, stored, accessed, retained, and deleted.
• Employee and workplace monitoring rules where you monitor staff.

You are responsible for determining which laws apply to you and for meeting their requirements, including any registrations, notices, consents, retention limits, and rights of the people you record.

2. Prohibited uses

You must not use Supervision to:

• Conduct unlawful surveillance, or monitor anyone without a lawful basis.
• Stalk, harass, intimidate, or track any individual unlawfully.
• Engage in voyeurism or capture footage in places or ways that violate a person's privacy or the law.
• Record audio or video in violation of consent, wiretapping, or eavesdropping laws.
• Infringe the rights of any person, including privacy, publicity, or data protection rights.
• Store, distribute, or use footage for unlawful, discriminatory, or abusive purposes.
• Violate any applicable law or regulation.

3. Do not misuse our systems

You must not attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the supervisionvms.com website, its accounts, or its infrastructure; interfere with other users; circumvent access controls; or use the site to distribute malware or send unsolicited messages.

4. Your accountability

Because you host and operate Supervision, you are the controller and custodian of your footage. You are responsible for securing your server, network, storage, and premises; for setting appropriate roles, permissions, and retention; and for responding to any requests or complaints from the people your cameras capture. We have no access to your footage and cannot act on it for you.

5. Consequences of violations

If you violate this Policy, we may suspend or terminate your early access account and website access. Nothing in this Policy limits any legal remedies available to us or to affected third parties. Because the software is self hosted, you remain responsible for footage already recorded on your systems.
